Shelly Murphy MSW, RSW
Shelly’s background includes working in both the private and public sector in Mental Health, Addiction, Education and Family Services for over 20 years. Her interest in Workplace Wellness arose out of her own lived experience with Compassion Fatigue which led her to completing an MSW with a focus on mental health wellness in the workplace. She has also completed certification as a clinical traumatologist at the Traumatology Institute in Toronto with Dr. Anna Baranowsky and has received further training in anti-oppressive practice. Having had her own lived experience with workplace trauma, Shelly is passionate about supporting those impacted by violence in the workplace by way of trauma frameworks and interventions to support healing and recovery.
Shelly currently resides in Prince Edward Island where she is owner of MIND/shift Workplace Wellness & Counselling Services which provides individual, family, couples and group counselling through an interdisciplinary approach to wellness and recovery. She develops and facilitates workshops for professional and community organizations interested in expanding mental health awareness and developing trauma informed practices. She also delivers speaking engagements focused on resilience and recovery, with the intention of raising mental health awareness and facilitating discussion on the value of lived experience, the benefits of peer support and developing action plans for self-care.
